BRUCE ANDERS
General Counsel
Bruce Anders is CIRI's lead in-house counsel, responsible for all CIRI-related legal matters. Anders has practiced for 11 of his 16 years as an attorney in Alaska, and has experience in both private and public legal sectors.
Before joining CIRI, Anders was chief of the State of Alaska Oil and Gas Division’s Leasing and Permitting/Petroleum System Integrity Section since December 2006. Anders served as a member of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s Natural Gasline Team, helping to draft, promote and defend the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act.
Anders’ legal career has been diverse, including stints litigating insurance defense matters at a large firm in Madison, Wis., representing rural Alaskans as a partner in a Bethel, Alaska, law office, representing the State of Alaska in environmental litigation as an assistant attorney general with the Alaska Department of Law and representing the Bureau of Land Management and Minerals Management Service at the Department of Interior Regional Solicitor’s office.
Anders earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Duke University in 1989 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1992.
