Betsy Peratrovich Alexander, granddaughter of acclaimed Alaska Native civil rights leader Elizabeth Peratrovich, has been named CIRI's manager of shareholder relations. Peratrovich Alexander replaces the former manager shareholder relations, Charmaine Forbes, who recently retired after 15 years with the company.

Peratrovich Alexander was most recently an administrator for CIRI's legal department and has been with CIRI since 1996. Prior to joining CIRI, she served as a promotional administrator for a large, multi-discipline consulting engineering firm, worked as a senior executive secretary for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, and managed retail outlets.

Being of Tlingit heritage from Juneau and Anchorage, Peratrovich Alexander is proud of her Alaska Native roots and often delivers presentations about her grandmother's and grandfather Roy's struggles and ultimate victory for passage of Alaska's equal rights legislation.

As to becoming manager of the shareholder relations department, Peratrovich Alexander says, "I'm excited to be a part of the shareholder relations team, and look forward to taking a more active and direct role in assisting CIRI shareholders."

New CIRI Shareholder Relations Manager
Sophie
Sophie Minich looks forward to having a more active role in the day-to-day operation of CIRI and oversight of many shareholder services as CIRI's new vice president, administration.

"This position allows me to have a more hands-on role in working for the company and making a difference for CIRI shareholders," said Minich.

As vice president of administration, Minich oversees the company's administration, public and shareholder relations divisions. In addition, she works closely with the CIRI non-profit organizations to ensure that their services are meeting the needs of CIRI shareholders and other Alaska Natives.

Minich herself is a shareholder of both
CIRI and Doyon and most recently served as CIRI's director of accounting. She joined CIRI's accounting department in 1993 after a great deal of urging from her oldest brother, who is also a CIRI shareholder. "My brother read about a position opening in CIRI's accounting department and was the driving force in my decision to work for the corporation," Minich said.

Having grown up in Seward, Alaska, Minich is the youngest of 10 kids of Athabascan descent, or "the tenth little Indian" as she is affectionately known by her family. Her personal interests include golfing in the summer and snowmachining in the winter, while spending time with family is among her favorite pastimes.

Aside from working at CIRI, Minich was recently appointed to the Municipality of Anchorage Investment Advisory Commission and has served on the Dean's Executive Advisory Council for UAA for the past two years.
